WMAA Spring National Tournament - 5/8/10

This years tournament will be followed by a very exciting Black Belt test which includes 1 student testing for his 5th Degree and 2 students testing for their 6th Degree Black Belts. There will also be a lower belt test and students testing from 1st Degree to 4th Degree Black Belts. It also gives you the opportunity to meet new people and make new friends and spend the day with our Headmaster. Don't miss it!!!

An Evening with the Headmaster 4/23

On Friday, April, 23rd Headmaster Mike Dealy along with other students from the WMAA will be joing our White Tiger club for a practice, exhibition and test. Following the class we will be celebrating the Headmaster's visit along with the White Tiger's 8th anniversary with delicious food and desserts. It's going to be an exciting night. Don't miss it and don't forget to bring your CAMERAS!!! Be in uniform and ready to go at 7pm.

TRIP TO THE NY AQUARIUM / ORIGINAL NATHANS

Please join the White Tiger TKD Club on a nostalgic trip to the NY Aquarium on 1/30/10 followed by a delicious lunch at the Original Nathans (best hotdogs in the world) located in Coney Island, Brooklyn, NY. I believe some of the exhibitions are outdoors, so dress accordingly. There is also nothing like a winter stroll along the beach for those brave souls out there. Congratulations to all who competed this weekend in the WMAA tournaments. Friday night was the upper degree tournament and the Fall East Coast Championships yesterday in Brooklyn. It was a spectacular display of spirit, focus, and power on all levels.

In addition, the Black Belt Tests were equally as amazing! Yesterday, five brown belts from the Avoca, NY club passed their first degree black belt test. Today's black belt test was truly inspiring to be a part of. There were 1st degree through 6th degree tests - Tom Mohr (instructor from Florida) completed his 5th Dan black belt test along with Danny Greene who passed his 6th Dan test. Very impressive indeed!

WMAA Fall Tournament

Congratulations Stephen on achieving the rank of Brown Belt. You displayed strength and focus in both forms and sparring. I also want to congratulate Matthew (Stephens son) for his participation in the tournament and showing the true "Spirit of Sportsmanship". Great job Mathew!!! Congrats also to my son John who was first place champion in sparring and champion in forms in a very, very tough junior brown belt division. All junior brown belt participants were AWESOME!!! Brian once again displayed just how much stronger and focused he is getting with each tournament. He made it to the finals again in sparring and lost a close match in overtime in a very tough adult 1st degree Black Belt division.All of you represented the White Tiger TKD club in excellant fasion once again with the highest respect for your fellow students. Thank you Mike P. and the Godkin family for attending the tournament and supporting the White Tiger students and all WMAA participants. It was a Great Day!!!

World Martial Arts Association Fall National Tournament

The WMAA Fall National Tournament is on 11/21/09 at the Montessouri School on Court & Bergen Streets in Downtown Brooklyn. Doors will open at 11am and the tournament will begin at 12pm and end around 5pm. Come spend a great day with our Headmaster Mike Dealy and the rest of your fellow students from across the United States. Everyone should be in a full clean uniform with all your sparring gear (labelled with name). Don't forget to pack some food and drink for the day. If you have any questions regarding the tournament, please don't hesitate to call me. Hope to see all of you there.

AWESOME WEEK

This past week was an awesome week for the White Tiger TKD Club. It all began last Saturday morning with a very intense outdoor practice in the woods that included forms on a steep hill and tree kicking. I think the time has come to increase the intensity level for some of our black belts who appear to be looking to take it to a HIGHER LEVEL!!!

A few hours following the practice, the annual BBQ at my house began, and what a BBQ it was. Things started really rolling along about 4pm and didn't stop until 2:30 am. The day included plenty of food and desserts, bocci ball, soccer ball, great music, the incredible fire that just mezmorized us for hours, marshmallow roasting, and of course an incredible amount of laughs. In total, there were about 50 students, family members and friends in attendance. Our largest BBQ to date. Special thanks of course to my wife Diane who was preparing for days for the event and a special thanks to all of you who make this happen each year by supporting our special White Tiger TKD program.

Then there was the Monday night practice followed by the WT 5K run/walk on Tuesday night which included 14 students, family members and friends. Also our largest group for the 5K run/walk. I'd like to see that number rise up to at least 20 people when we meet again in June. And to end the week, we had an awesome practice on Thur. with a lot of 2 on 1 free styles and bag work on an unusaul 90 degree day in May.

I would like for everyone to respond to this message and let us know of any memorable parts of the week you had and of any personal accomplishments you might have achieved throughout the week.

Have a very safe and happy Memorial Day weekend and always remember why we honor this holiday with such sincerity.

Awesome Tournament!! Congradulations to Mike, Brian H., Michael P. and Alex P. for their participation in the tournament and for representing the White Tiger Tae Kwon Do club. Thanks to Fred, Laurie and Don for cheering them on!!! I also had the honor of assisting Headmaster Mike at his table for a few hours. It was a day of learning and fun for all. Hope to see everyone at the November tournament!!!

On Saturday April 4th we will be meeting at Veterans Park at 9am for our 7th year anniversary practice followed by a delicious breakfast at the Cornucopia Diner in Keyport. Practice will include "Tree Kicking" and a "Heavy Bag Workout with Flying Sidekicks". If Michael Carter has his way, we will bring out "THE TOWEL".
